In 2004, we began the process of looking for a family home which would provide a better living environment for us and our infant son, whilst enabling us to retain our small villa as an investment. We knew where we wanted to live, and the price of properties in the area, but had no idea what our “optimal spending range” was and whether we would be able to structure a package which would completely fulfil our aspirations.
